History, Pasta, Spritzes & La Dolce Vita

Rome definitely has my heart. ❤️

There is something about Rome that feels completely different from anywhere else. One minute you’re walking down a little cobblestone street eating something delicious, and the next you’re standing in front of a monument that has been there for thousands of years.

Our stay put us in such a convenient location near Palazzo Brancaccio, approximately a 10-minute walk from the Colosseum and within walking distance of so many restaurants, cafés, shops and historic areas. We stayed in a charming, colorful apartment with soft pastel details that felt like our own little home in Rome.

And honestly, being able to explore so much of the city on foot was one of my favorite parts of the experience.

🏛️ Exploring Ancient Rome

Of course, we couldn’t come to Rome without experiencing its incredible history.

We explored the Colosseum and Roman Forum, walked beneath ancient Roman arches, visited the Pantheon, explored Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica, and made our way to the iconic Trevi Fountain.

Rome is basically an open-air museum. You can be walking to lunch and suddenly find yourself standing in front of something you’ve seen in history books your entire life.

🍝 And Then There Was the FOOD…

Because let’s be serious—half the reason to go to Italy is to eat. 😂

We had pasta, pizza, Italian street food, gelato, desserts and plenty of cocktails along the way.

One of the absolute must-have experiences was fresh pasta finished in a giant wheel of cheese. Creamy, cheesy, ridiculously indulgent and exactly the kind of meal I imagined eating in Italy.

Then came my new obsession:

TIRAMISU GELATO. 😍

Because apparently regular tiramisu wasn’t enough. 😂 We had the classic version too—along with cappuccinos, pastries and plenty of little dessert stops throughout the city.

There were also those wonderfully simple Rome moments: grabbing food from a little spot and eating it right along the cobblestone streets. Nothing fancy. Just good food and Rome happening around you.

🍹 Spritz O’Clock

Rome also taught me that there is basically never a bad time for an Aperol Spritz. 😂🍊

One of my favorite memories was sitting outside with a spritz while looking directly at the Pantheon. THAT is the kind of lunch view I’ll happily take any day.

We spent our evenings discovering restaurants tucked along Rome’s streets, having cocktails under string lights and simply enjoying the atmosphere.

And for something completely different, we even visited an Ice Bar! 🧊🍸

We threw on thermal capes, stepped inside a room surrounded by ice and had cocktails in what felt like a frozen little world in the middle of Rome.
